Investigate

The first step of any project involves discussions and guidance with the client to establish an expedient, economical, environmentally safe solution to the contamination hazard, which includes an acceptable and safe level of decontamination for the project.

This is followed by the identification and location of the hazardous contamination materials.

We undertake a full detailed examination of the building, plant or equipment prior to any planning to establish the extent of the contaminants and how best to deal with them.
We will undertake a full risk assessment to reduce or eliminate all hazards that would be encountered and a visual inspection of the area with swabbing, sampling and lab testing if required.

The conclusions of the investigation are summarised in a pre contract report that outlines our risk assessments, method statements, and recommendations for decontamination processes, costs and project timescales.

Decontaminate

Our priorities in pharmaceutical decontamination are safety, efficiency and value. We always consider the environmental impact of our work and where the outcome is the same, we aim to apply less toxic or damaging agents to decontaminate the affected areas.

Our methods include:

  • High pressure washing with antiseptic detergents
  • Fogging, and the use of steam borne hydrogen peroxide technologies
  • Manual abrasion
  • Sorbents
  • Thermal methods
  • Chemical deactivation

Following decontamination the area is fully swab and surface tested independently to ascertain the success of the operation and ensure it has fulfilled the project objectives. This is added to a post-contract report that may be held in the Health and Safety archives of the organisation for future inspection or review.

Dispose

When disposal is essential, you can rely on G & A Environmental Services to manage the operation in as safe and efficient way as possible.

We provide a full report outlining the disposal waste stream routes and destinations along with detailed costings and timings for the removal and disposal of decommissioned material, machinery and demolition arisings.

G & A Environmental Services provide you with a waste minimisation system which will reduce your costs of disposal and reduce the impact of your waste on the environment. This is done by minimising its volume and toxicity to the lowest levels and volume before being transported to specialist disposal facilities. All of our processes comply and exceed HSE regulations and stringent EU standards.
